Tamiya 61606 1/100 A-6A Intruder
After Tamiya took the armor modeling world by storm and made 1/35 the standard, they attempted to introduce a new standard for aircraft models with a series of 1/100 and 1/50 scale aircraft. While this made sense for a metric nation, 1/72 and 1/48 were already established as the dominant scales for airplanes, and Tamiya finally converted to those scales.
Tamiya has now re-released some kits from that series. This kit features recessed panel lines and some basic cockpit detail, not that bad at all when one considers the scale and the age of this kit. Decals are included for three aircraft, one from VA-75 on the Kittyhawk, another also from VA-75 but this time off the Independence, and one from VA-196 off the Constellation. Ball bearings are included for use as nose weights.
